The people of SC House District 113 chose to ‘push forward with Pendarvis,’ as Marvin Pendarvis won the Democratic Primary on Tuesday. The young attorney and North Charleston native notched a decisive victory, taking 79.9% of the vote. Business professional Angela Hanyak came in second, with Charleston County School Board member Chris Collins trailing her.
Pendarvis will face Theron Sandy II, the Republican nominee, on November 7. The district, which includes parts of Charleston and Dorchester counties, is expected to remain in Democratic hands.
The winner will succeed Seth Whipper, who stepped down over the summer to become a magistrate judge in Charleston County.
