The race for Chair of the South Carolina Democratic Party continues…with Cedric Spain, Susan Smith and Trav Robertson.
Robertson was endorsed by former Congressman John Spratt.
Smith was endorsed by former Governor Jim Hodges, House Minority Leader Todd Rutherford, SC Legislative Black Caucus Chair John King and 16 other members of the General Assembly.
HOT TOPIC….Chairman’s salary…….
Susan Smith has declared she will not take a salary. She has said that the Party has never paid its Chairman and that it cannot afford to pay its Chairman now. During numerous forums, Trav Robertson did not say no to taking a $100,000 salary as Chairman.
When asked, it seems most Democrats say that the Party cannot afford to begin paying its chairman at all. Smith says those funds should go directly to help Democratic candidates get elected.
